Leighton Zhong

Associate

Leighton Zhong is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Orlando office. Her areas of practice are focused on personal injury protection (PIP), general civil litigation, catastrophic and personal injury, SIU insurance fraud defense, premises liability and vehicle negligence.

Leighton attended the University of Central Florida, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. During her four years at the University of Central Florida, she worked numerous jobs while attending school full time. She later earned her Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University College of Law, in Tallahassee, Florida where she graduated Cum Laude. In law school, Leighton achieved the Book Award for receiving the highest grade in Contracts. Leighton also interned at the Florida State University Public Interest Law Center where she assisted low-income clients with a wide range of family law issues. She also worked as an intern at a plaintiff’s firm, where she researched and drafted various motions on civil rights claims.

Before joining Cole, Scott & Kissane, P.A., Leighton worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in Orange County, Florida. There, Leighton gained valuable experience handling all full range of cases which ranged from misdemeanors to violent and punishable by life felony cases. While working as an Assistant State Attorney, Leighton had tried approximately 50 jury trials including felonies such as attempted murder.

Upon her transition to civil practice, Leighton has handled numerous Personal Injury Protection, first-party matters as well as bodily injury and general liability defense matters with great results.
