Slip and Fall Defense Verdict

Tampa Partners Michelle Bartels and Aaryn Ledoux obtained a complete defense verdict in a liability only jury trial in Pasco County.

This was a slip and fall that occurred in Tarpon Springs. According to Plaintiff, she entered the breakroom and approached a vending machine with the intention of purchasing a beverage. However, there was apparently a puddle of liquid present in front of the machine. Plaintiff alleged she did not see the water when she walked to get her drink or while she was standing at the machine purchasing her drink. She claims that as she was walking to leave the breakroom, she stepped into the puddle, resulting in her slipping and falling to the ground.

According to the Plaintiff, the water appeared to be leaking from the bottom right corner of the soda machine and into the breakroom; however, the defendant owner of the vending machine advised that the machine had been serviced the day prior with no reported incidents. The jury found no liability on the part of the defendant.
