Jacksonville Partners, Christopher Walsh and Patrick Snyder, and Associate, Alexandra Dabek, obtained a complete defense verdict after an 8-day trial in a vehicle vs. semi tractor trailer accident case in St. John’s County.
Plaintiff was an 18-year-old passenger in a vehicle driven by her friend and was on her way to school. As they attempted to merge into I-95, a collision occurred with Defendant’s semi tractor trailer. Both Plaintiff and her friend suffered traumatic brain injuries and multiple orthopedic injuries as the vehicle was struck and thrown into the overpass support beam. Plaintiff was life flighted from the scene and underwent emergency brain surgery due to multiple skull fractures. Plaintiff was in a coma for over three weeks and currently suffers significant cognitive impairments. The main defense of the matter was on liability and both Plaintiff and Defendant had multiple experts, including commercial trucking and accident reconstruction. Plaintiff called over 20 witnesses to trial and requested $16,500,000 from the jury.
The jury deliberated for about 1.5 hours and returned a complete defense verdict finding no negligence on the Defendant driver.
