The Youth Automotive Training Center, founded by automotive legend Jim Moran in 1984, educates disadvantaged youth in basic automotive repair, academic remediation, job readiness and life management skills through a tuition-free, nine-month training program. YATC students have the opportunity to learn a trade, plan for the future and become productive members of the community.
YATC has grown from a one-room training center into a 16,000 square-foot modern facility featuring technical and academic classrooms, a computer learning center/library, state-of-the-art automotive shop, conference room, lunch room and fitness room. Graduates of the model program, along with their families, receive the continuing assistance needed to keep them on the right track for success.
In October, CSK Associate, Amber Dawson was unanimously elected to the YATC Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is made up of South Florida attorneys, judges and business professionals. The goal of the Board of Directors is to ensure that the necessary services the organization provides its students are realized by each student. As a member of the Board of Directors, Ms. Dawson helps oversee the school’s staff, including its Executive Director, votes on financial decisions related to services provided to the students, assists with public relations related to events, assists with fundraising and addresses any needs that come from the students and staff. Congratulations to Amber for this accomplishment and to the YATC for all they do for the deserving students in our community!
