Miami Partners George Hooker and Robert Guinn recently secured a defense win in trial.
This was a first-party property case arising out of a Hurricane Irma claim where the carrier accepted coverage and invoked its option to repair. The plaintiff argued the election was invalid because People’s Trust failed to comply with certain post-loss conditions. Despite it being undisputed the carrier did not comply with these conditions, George and Robert won some critical arguments during directed verdict and the plaintiffs dismissed before closing arguments.
