Partners Michele Morales and Mike Brand succeeded with a favorable verdict in a slip and fall matter in Ocala. In this admitted liability case, plaintiff required two back surgeries and one neck surgery, incurring over $500k in medical bills. Additionally, plaintiff’s life care expert calculated $900k in future expenses, including multiple future surgeries. Plaintiff’s treating surgeon testified that all of the past and future surgeries were the result of the subject fall, and video of the fall demonstrated that plaintiff was unable to stand for several minutes after the incident. Plaintiff additionally requested $4 million in pain and suffering from the jury for a total of $5.4 million. After three hours of deliberation, the jury awarded $75k in past medical expenses and $25k in past pain and suffering for a total of $100k. The expired $500k PFS will result in a net of zero for the plaintiff.
