Overview

Sheila M. Gonzales-Jonasz is a partner in the firm’s Miami office with an active trial practice in a wide variety of areas, including medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, premises liability, vehicle negligence, Title IX, sexual assault and harassment and other types of complex litigation.  She is also experienced in defending public education institutions in claims brought against them. Ms. Gonzales-Jonasz’ experience in medical malpractice and health-care related litigation is extensive. She has defended and served as trial counsel for medical professionals, healthcare staffing agencies, and dentists.  She has also represented health care providers in claims brought by the Florida Department of Health Administration.

Ms. Gonzales-Jonasz received her Juris Doctor degree from DePaul College of Law (Chicago, Illinois) and her Bachelor of Science degree from Loyola University of Chicago.  Prior to joining Cole, Scott & Kissane in 2001, Ms. Gonzales-Jonasz practiced law in Chicago, Illinois in civil defense litigation.

She is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Florida Supreme Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, and all trial courts in the States of Florida and Illinois.

Ms. Gonzales-Jonasz is a member in several legal organizations, including the invitation-only American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), the Florida Bar, Illinois Bar, Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Miami-Dade Chapter, and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.
