Overview

Therese A. Savona is a partner in the firm’s Orlando office. Ms. Savona is a Board Certified Specialist in Appellate Practice and concentrates her practice on appellate work in both state and federal courts. Ms. Savona also provides litigation support for attorneys preparing for trial in state and federal courts. She has experience in handling cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, professional liability, business/commercial law, child welfare litigation, condominium and homeowners’ association law, and copyright and trademark infringement.

A native to the Orlando area, Ms. Savona attended Bishop Moore Catholic High School. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication from the University of Miami, double majoring in Public Relations and History. She went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University School of Law. During law school, Ms. Savona was a member of the Moot Court Executive Board, and coached the champion team at the Robert Orseck Memorial Moot Court Competition. She also was a member of the St. Thomas Law Review and served at the Notes and Comments Editor.

Ms. Savona began her professional career working on criminal appeals for Florida’s Office of the Attorney General. During her time there, she handled almost 300 criminal appeals and numerous oral arguments. This experience led her to become the Chief Appellate Counsel for the Florida Department of Health, where she was the sole appellate attorney for the Department’s Prosecution Services Unit. In addition to handling all final and non-final appeals concerning disciplinary proceedings for all health care professionals, Ms. Savona provided litigation support to the Department’s prosecutors, including emergency action taken against licensees.

Ms. Savona is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
