Overview
Justin Lawrence Schiff is a Partner in the firm's Miami office. He handles complex litigation matters involving claims against businesses and professionals, contractual disputes, partnership actions, directors and officer liability claims, employment disputes, discrimination charges, and class action disputes. Mr. Schiff also advises on intellectual property, business law and commercial matters in both the litigation and transactional context.
Mr. Schiff's litigation practice has included defense of multi-million-dollar breach of fiduciary duty claims, defense of condominium and homeowners’ associations, and representation of commercial entities in complex litigation matters. He has served as defense counsel in legal malpractice actions and represented clients in intellectual property disputes (involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets), unfair and deceptive trade practices, and insurance related matters. Mr. Schiff also has experience in a wide array of contract and business disputes, both in the business-to-business context and internally (investigations, contract disputes, and employment disputes). His transactional practice includes intellectual property asset sales, intellectual property licensing, management, monetization and related matters. He has experience managing intellectual property protection campaigns (including major platforms such as Amazon, Ebay, Etsy and other social media platforms).
With a wide range of experience in state court and federal court, Mr. Schiff has invaluable insight into the business needs and decision-making process for start-ups, large companies, and internationally recognized brands. He also brings a unique blend of experience given his time as an in-house counsel and his time at University of Miami's Office of Technology Transfer and Office of Regulatory Compliance.
Mr. Schiff earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University where he majored in Business Management and Legal Studies in Business. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2016 after earning a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law where he focused his studies on intellectual property and start-up law. At UM Law, he was a member of the Moot Court team and the Law Without Walls Program.
